Get Inspired

The Empowered Runners Club has helped me get my confidence back!

I joined the Empowered Runners Club and began my first ever run-specific strength training program. I cannot emphasize enough how different I feel! After such a long bout of injuries I had began not to trust my body to carry me where I wanted to go. But with this strength training program and knowing Dr. Sarah is there to help, I no longer worry that a small ache or pain is going to turn into an incapacitation injury.

I just completed the Napa Valley Half Marathon, and am planning to sign up for a fall marathon in St. George, Utah

What Members Are Saying

Dr Sarah is fantastic! Takes time with diagnosing and describing the technicalities of the issue at hand which I greatly appreciate from a patient perspective. Tackling the problem,
the prescribed approach isn’t overwhelming and feels manageable to do at home throughout the day.
I’m back at running to where I used to thanks to working with her.

My Story

Spring 2020

Developed hip pain out of nowhere. No injury, no fall—just pain that wouldn’t go away.

Winter 2021

Running became impossible. Pain started affecting daily life, so I finally went to physical therapy.

Spring 2021

Worked up to running 40 minutes pain-free, but couldn’t progress beyond that. Felt stuck and plateaued in PT.

Summer 2022

Started what would later become the EmpowHER Hip Program, focusing on stability, strength, and rebuilding my running in a way that worked for my body.

Fall 2022

Back to running consistently and comfortably!

Since then, I've:

  • Run 20-50 mile weeks

  • Completed a trail half marathon

  • Finished two 50Ks—pain-free

Most importantly, I now know exactly what it takes to stay out of hip pain—and so can you.
